The Finnish Flavor of Krav Maga, KRAV MAGA FINALAND was born in 2014-2015, when the Finnish Krav Maga Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture of FINLAND, developed a national curriculum for juniors. Until then, krav maga had been a “K-18” sport mainly available to adults and training was directed by “the big krav maga brands”.
To the junior curriculum, the adult curriculum was a natural extension and it was introduced in 2016.
In 2019 we started the development project targeting the teaching methodology that was concluded in 2023 by the book “May the Skill be With You – How to accelerate skill acquisition in self-defense” (available at our online academy)
To be an independent krav maga curriculum, one has to understand the history and development of the krav maga. This is the work we set our mind to and as of today, the Krav Maga Finland is the “Northern Star of Krav Maga” (GM Avi Abeceedon, the head of martial arts section, Wingate Academic College).
Responding to life-threatening situation smartly and correctly is about direct perception leading to action. It is not about using one’s active memory, it is about training as representatively as possible at all times.
The main principles of Krav Maga Finland follow the dna of Krav Maga:
Timing and Rhythm:
*Simultaneous attack and defense,
*Act as early as possible, as efficiently as possible
*Closest weapon-closest target
*Get out of the line of fire (and stay out)
Simplicity:
*Minimum effort, maximum result
*Similar attack, similar solution
*Fastest way is the best way

*Do not get hit (hurt) but if you do keep on fighting

The Finnish Flavor of Krav Maga has always been very straightforward. We have never been keen on measuring the form but the outcome.
It has always been about adapting to its user without forcing everyone into the same mould. With our training, teaching and learning methodology, the “Zero Distance Solutions Skill Accelerator” this is evermore true.
